Fuling Tomb

Located in the eastern suburb of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, Fuling Tomb (East Tomb) is the mausoleum of Nurhachi (1559-1626). Covering an area of 194,800 square meters (about 48 acres), Fuling Tomb is a well-preserved tomb complex of the Qing Dynasty. It is now included in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.

 
Zhaoling Tomb

Located in Beiling Park, the largest park in Shenyang. It is the mausoleum of Huang Taiji (Emperor Taizong) of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and his queen Bo'erjijite. The tomb lies to the north of Shenyang City, it is usually called Beiling (North Tomb). Its total area is 4,500,000 square meters (1,112 acres).

 
Taiqing Palace

The largest and most well-known Taoist temple in Northeast China. Originally constructed in 1663 by the 8th generation disciples of the Quanzhen Sect of Taoism, Taiqing Palace was designated by the State Council as a key national Taoist temple in 1983. The temple is famous for its statues of Laozi (founder of Taoism), Confucius (founder of Confucianism) and the Buddha, signifying the ideology of the Quanzhen Sect to combine the three philosophies into one.

 
Shenyang Imperial Palace

The Shenyang Imperial Palace served as the Qing residence prior to their rule over China and subsequent relocation to Beijing. The palace has a history of 400 years and a cluster of structures in a natural, sublime and imposing layout. Together with the Fobidden Palace in Beijing, it is the most intact historical imperial building. The Shenyang Imperial Palace is very rich in cultural relics and has now been turned into a museum.

 
The Shenyang Palace Museum

The Shenyang Palace Museum possesses a huge collection of valuable palace cultural relics of Qing dynasty. "The Tiger-veined Double-Edged Sword" is the most famous among all artifacts used by Nurhachu, the first emperor of Qing dynasty. "The Nurhachu's imperial jade seal" is square in shape with a dragon-buttoned ribbon on it. The seal face is carved with Man and Han languages, which is intricately laid out with power and grandeur. There are also such valuable cultural relics as waist sword, bow and arrow, "imperial jade seal" and "jade belt".

 
Museum of September 18th

On 18th, September, 1931, Japan launched an unprovoked invasion of Shenyang. This event was considered the prelude to the Anti-Japanese War. After occupying Shenyang and most of Northeast China, the Japanese invaders maintained a ruthless rule over the area for fourteen years. Museum of September 18th is built in the shape of open calendar, houses thousands of pictures, video materials, statues and other reminders of the Japanese occupation.
